I discovered recently that there was a new restaurant in Downtown Markham called Terre Rouge - Contemporary French Bistro headed by Forrest Liu. From the online reviews of multiple sources (mostly sponsored postings), the postings were mostly positive to outstanding. Normally I would take such comments with a grain of salt but this place was trying to be the upscale restaurant of the north (ex. 7 ...

Hello fellow foodies! Life has been very busy for me with family and work. I'm still active and eating well around Toronto. I will try to see if I can get back into a cadence of 1 post a week again. Instagram really has made blogging more difficult as you can take a quick pic with some captions...I normally don't visit downtown Toronto often but when I do, I try to see what food places wou...

Just this past week, I took the entire family north of Toronto to go see the fall red leaves that normally happen between late September to early October of every year. It is quite a sight to see the trees in these colours and perhaps a very popular Asian culture tradition (to see "red" = fortune, fame, richness). From time to time, I do get invitations from restaurants in Toronto to try out their...

I love many asian soups including wonton and pho. However, Laksa is one of my favourites and it doesn't seem to get a lot of attention.  Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup in the Peranakan cuisine. Laksa consists of rice noodles or rice vermicelli with chicken, prawn or fish, served in spicy soup; either based on rich and spicy curry coconut milk, or based on sour asam (tamarind or gelu...

Work and family life has been very busy. As such, I don't have much time to create or cook meals from scratch after work. If you had noticed in the past, I would go out for lunch! For this lunch adventure, I had discovered that the Tapagria restaurant near my work area was finally available for lunch (previously was only open during dinner on weekdays). I had heard many negative comments about...

Toronto is currently under a black charcoal ice cream madness trend from "Ihalo Krunch." Sadly, there was another ice cream that appeared during the same time but hasn't draw the same level of attention due to the hype and Instagram photo bombs. Wong's Ice Cream Store just opened recently in June of 2017 as the latest Asian-stype ice cream parlour at Gerrard and Broadview Ave. I was leavin...

It has been a while since I posted on my blog about actual restaurant reviews.  I have been eating well but busier with life. For this lunch adventure, I found this new restaurant in First Markham Place in the previous spot of the old V2 noodle restaurant. There was a heavy amount of Instagram sponsorship visits for this place. I grab my foodie mate and off we went for lunch.Atmosphere:The de...

I have been super busy with life, work, and afterwork (dealing with children and raising them). I recently found a foodie movie to help unwind my busy lifestyle. I was thinking of publishing a list of my favourite foodie movies ... and here it is:Ratatouille (2007) - Disney Pixar film about this Rat wanting to be a chefEat Drink Man Woman (1994) - Life around a senior Asian chef with lots of food ...

I have been super busy with life, kids, work and haven't had the time to write a bit. I had bought some bananas for home ... but no one touched them. As such, many of them went brown and black. Some people would just throw these away. For me, these bananas were perfect for banana bread baking!I referenced my favourite recipe from Cook's Illustrated for Banana Bread. I like Cook's Illus...

I was recently contacted by Jennifer from Modern Map Art to do a review of a poster. Normally, I wouldn't have agreed to do this but this was an art work of Toronto. Since I have been here most of my life, Toronto has been home.A few weeks later, I got a special delivery with the large poster. This poster really isn't for children but for people who live and breath Toronto. The river and r...
